Geography
South-eastern Perth. Cannington covers the suburbs of Cannington, East Cannington, Beckenham, Queens Park, Wilson, Lynwood, Langford, Kenwick and parts of Ferndale, Thornlie and Welshpool. Cannington covers parts of Canning and Gosnells council areas.
Redistribution
Cannington lost Parkwood to Riverton and expanded east to take in Kenwick from Forrestfield and a small area from Thornlie.
History
Cannington was created as a new district in the 2008 redistribution as a notional Labor seat, with a margin of over 13%.
Cannington was won in 2008 by Labor’s Bill Johnston, and he has been re-elected three times.
