The City of Manningahm was created in 1994 mostly as a successor to the City of Templestowe and Doncaster, with some small changes around the edges.

The council was previously elected from four two-member wards, and switched to three three-member wards in 2007. The council moved to single-member wards in 2020.

In the current term, the mayoralty has been held by Andrew Conlon, Michelle Kleinert, Deirdre Diamante and Carli Lange.

Council control
Councillor Carli Lange was elected as mayor in 2023, with Laura Mayne as deputy.

I don’t have enough information to make an assessment.

Voting trends by ward
In order to understand the relative political position of each ward, I have estimated the results of the 2022 federal election in each ward.

The Liberal Party won the two-party-preferred vote in every ward, but not by a lot. The Liberal 2PP peaked at 54% in Westerfolds.

  1. While Menzies was nearly won in 2022 that was also due to parts of Whitehorse being in the seat. This shows how Blue Manningham is. It is actually a stronger LGA than Knox which was often said to be a new heartland.
In Manningham, we can see the southern portions being weaker. I am in the Ruffey ward. I have seen a lot of campaigning in the Westerfold Ward but none in my own ward.
