Geography
Sunshine Coast. Buderim covers the central Sunshine Coast suburbs of Buderim, Mountain Creek, Sippy Downs, Kuluin, Rosemount and Diddillibah.
History
The seat of Buderim was created at the 2009 state election, taking in parts of Kawana and Maroochydore.
The seat of Kawana had been created at the 2001 election, and was held from 2001 to 2006 by Chris Cummins of the ALP, who defeating the sitting Liberal MP for Mooloolah in 2001.
Cummins was defeated in 2006 by Liberal candidate Steve Dickson.
In 2009, Dickson moved to the new seat of Buderim, and was re-elected in 2012 and 2015.
Dickson resigned from the Liberal National Party in January 2017 due to a disagreement over medicinal cannabis and joined One Nation as their sole state MP.
Dickson lost Buderim to LNP candidate Brent Mickelberg at the 2017 election, and Mickelburg was re-elected in 2020.

Booths in Buderim have been divided into three areas: east, north and west.
The LNP won a majority of the two-party-preferred vote in all three areas, ranging from 50.01% in the west to 52.6% in the north. The LNP’s win was much bigger in the pre-poll and other votes, with over 56%.
The Greens came third, with a primary vote ranging from 11.9% in the east to 15.4% in the west.

Easy LNP retain but note the swing to Labor last election, off the back of the older population scared about the impacts of COVID.

I agree. LNP could get a primary of over 50%, unless ONP or Steve Dickson resurges and splits the votes.
I think one nation will certainly shake things up this time around.
I m sitting ina park in Buderim at the moment. You would hardly know there was an election taking place.
Last election the electorate was covered with One Nation and LNP corflutes. I have seen a couple on private property but roundabouts are clear. LNP candidate is so concerned about the electkion that he was handing out prizes to Garden Club prize winners five hoursl ago. In other words he is confident of victory. I travelled all over Buderim today and I saw no campaigning.
