Geography

History
Labor’s Terry Hampson won Marchant in 1994. He was re-elected in 1997 and 2000.
In 2004, Hampson was succeeded by Labor candidate Faith Hopkins, who held the seat with a 3.8% margin, which was cut to 3% in the 2008 redistribution.
At the 2008 election, Liberal candidate Fiona King (now Fiona Hammond) defeated Hopkins with an 11% swing. Hammond was re-elected in 2012, 2016 and 2020.
Hammond retired from council in late 2023, and was replaced by Danita Parry to finish her term.

- Darren Mitchell (Labor)
- Mekayla Anog (Greens)

The flip side of the comments on the Stafford page – Fiona Hammond is the retiring Councillor here. No doubt the LNP will have someone replacing her shortly.
@AlexJ – this has now been confirmed as Danita Parry. Fiona should have given her replacement more time as 4 months before the election is a very short time to build up any sort of incumbency advantage.
