Geography
Southern Perth. The district includes the suburbs of Cockburn Central, Yangebup, Munster, Beeliar, Success, and parts of Coogee and Spearwood. The district covers central parts of the City of Cockburn.
Redistribution
Cockburn contracted, losing Henderson, Wattleup and Hammond Park to Kwinana on its southern boundary, and losing the remainder of Bibra Lake and South Lake to Willagee on the northern boundary. These changes slightly increased the Labor margin from 4.1% to 4.5%.
History
Cockburn has existed continuously since 1962, and has always been held by Labor MPs.
Fran Logan won Cockburn in 2001. He served as a minister from 2005 until the ALP lost power in 2008. Logan has been re-elected in 2005, 2008 and 2013.
