ALP 6.4%
Incumbent MP
Andrea Michaels, since 2019.
Geography
Northern Adelaide. Enfield covers suburbs immediately to the north of the Adelaide city centre, including the suburbs of Blair Athol, Broadview, Clearview, Enfield, Gepps Cross, Northgate, Sefton Park, Walkley Heights, Woodville Gardens and parts of Nailsworth.
Redistribution
Enfield shifted north, gaining Gepps Cross from Port Adelaide and gaining Walkley Heights from Florey. Enfield lost Kilburn to Croydon and lost Greenacres to Torrens. These changes reduced the Labor margin from 7.9% to 6.4%.
History
The electorate of Enfield has existed since 2002, when it replaced the electorate of Ross Smith.
Ralph Clarke held Ross Smith for the ALP from 1993 until 2002, and rose to the position of deputy leader of the ALP in South Australia.
In 2002, Clarke was challenged for preselection by John Rau, who won the preselection with state executive support.
Rau won re-election four times, and served as deputy premier from 2011 until 2018.
Rau resigned from parliament at the end of 2018, after Labor lost power at the 2018 state election.
The subsequent by-election was easily won by Labor candidate Andrea Michaels.
- Andrea Michaels (Labor)
- Rajan Vaid (One Nation)
- Saru Rana (Liberal)
- Martin Petho (Family First)
- Busby Cavanagh (Greens)
