Geography
Brisbane. Bancroft covers suburbs on the northern fringe of Brisbane, including Burpengary East, Deception Bay, North Harbour and North Lakes.
History
Bancroft was created in 2017 primarily out of northern parts of the seat of Murrumba.
Murrumba had been held by Labor for all but one election since 1977.
The LNP’s Reg Gulley broke Labor’s streak in 2012, but lost in 2015 to Labor’s Chris Whiting. Whiting was elected to represent Bancroft in 2017.

Booths in Bancroft have been divided into three areas: central, north and south.
Labor won a majority of the two-party-preferred vote in all three areas, ranging from 53.4% in the north to 61.6% in the centre.
One Nation came third, with a primary vote ranging from 14.7% in the south to 22.5% in the north.

I took a look at pre poll polling station on Eastern Service Road at Burpengary East yesterday. Absolutely no party volunteers visible. Rain had just finished so they may have been there in middle of day. No A frames or Corflutes visible from road. A few Corflutes wired to fence visible from parking lot.
Certainly nothing to look at. Only visible activity at door of prepoll was a lone ECQ worker probably counting voters in and out.

I think both major parties have their first preference lift here due to One Nation vote collapsing with maybe a bit more going to the LNP.

Pre poll at Byurpengary had no party volunteers. I have not seen any literature from any candidate other than Whiting. I would rate LNP local campaign as worst local campaign by a major party I have experienced. No phone contact from any party. Spotted ALP a couple of times on road stalls but noticeable lack of Corflutes.I know that at least one ALP volunteer has been letterboxing each day but he did not get to Burpengary East.
Greens no campaign whatsoever noticed. One Nation active with Corflute erection early and late in campaign. only evidence of independent campaigning Corflutes at a side street house in D Bay.

The absence of a local newspaper in the electorate makes for great reliance on the Statewide campaign.
New News paper in Redcliffe did not play any role and local FM radio station just does not have reach to be an influence.
Artisans Guild 5 of 6 candidates represented. Only missing candidate was independent Grant. LNP candidate Carlson on booth himself. Not very busy booth. Seemed to be more activity by Artisans than political party’s.
