Geography
South-East Queensland. Waterford covers suburbs in the City of Logan on the southern fringe of the Brisbane region, specifically Loganlea, Waterford, Meadowbrook, Bethania, Edens Landing, Tanah Merah, Loganholme and parts of Kingston, Slacks Creek and Beenleigh.

History
The seat of Waterford has existed since 1992, and has always been held by the ALP.

Tom Barton won Waterford for the ALP at the 1992 election. He was appointed as a minister in 1995, serving until the fall of the Goss government in 1996. He again served as a minister from 1998 until his retirement in 2006.

Evan Moorhead was elected in Waterford in 2006, and was re-elected in 2009.

In 2012, Moorhead was defeated by LNP candidate Mike Latter.

Waterford was considered a safe Labor seat from 1992 to 2012, and will almost certainly return to Labor in 2012.

Booth breakdown
Booths in Waterford have been split into three parts: Beenleigh, Waterford and North.

The LNP topped the primary vote and the two-party-preferred vote in Beenleigh and Waterford, while Labor won in the north.

The LNP primary vote ranged from 37.8% in the north to 42.2% in Beenleigh, and Labor’s primary vote ranged from 35.1% in Beenleigh to 42% in the north.

The two-party-preferred vote ranged from 52% for Labor in the north to 54.6% for the LNP in Beenleigh.

  2. This one is gone, a real pity as Mike Latter is a quality member. He knows his electorate and gets around the schools and community groups, is on top of issues relating to them.

  3. This one will be an ALP win by 6-05pm
    Allow a 12% swing and it will be one of the first losses for LNP
    as it returns home to a once again safe Labor seat
