Geography
South-East Queensland. Waterford covers suburbs in the City of Logan on the southern fringe of the Brisbane region, specifically Loganlea, Waterford, Meadowbrook, Bethania, Edens Landing, Tanah Merah, Loganholme and parts of Kingston, Slacks Creek and Beenleigh.

History
The seat of Waterford has existed since 1992, and has always been held by the ALP.

Tom Barton won Waterford for the ALP at the 1992 election. He was appointed as a minister in 1995, serving until the fall of the Goss government in 1996. He again served as a minister from 1998 until his retirement in 2006.

Evan Moorhead was elected in Waterford in 2006, and was re-elected in 2009.

Candidates
Sitting Labor MP Evan Moorhead is running for re-election. The LNP is running Mike Latter. Katter’s Australian Party is running Albert Page.

Political situation
Waterford should be a safe seat, although there is a small chance the LNP could win the seat if they have a strong result.

  1. GO ALBERT, I got your brochure the other day. You will do awesome. I hope that everyone will look at the candidate and will vote for the best person that will best represent them!

  2. Very suprising result here, would have easily expected a Labor retain. Many new voters in this electorate, so it’s always hard to predict in the Logan region what will happen.

  3. I knew this Evan Moorehead from Uni. Like many electorates, people were seeking real people not full time politicians/unionists of the ALP. Even at Uni Evan was simply all about the student union and then even after he graduated he did not use his degree. Now in his mid 30’s it seems he is going to have to try and do so.
