South-East Queensland. Pumicestone covers parts of Moreton Bay LGA stretching from Bribie Island to Caboolture.

History
The seat of Pumicestone has existed since 2001. The seat was won in 2001 by Carryn Sullivan, who was re-elected in 2004, 2006 and 2009.

Candidates
Sitting Labor MP Carryn Sullivan is running for re-election. The LNP is running Lisa France. Katter’s Australian Party is running Brandt King.

Political situation
Pumicestone could be vulnerable to the LNP with a margin of 5.0%.

Booths in Pumicestone have been divided into three areas. Booths on Bribie Island have been grouped together, as have those in the town of Caboolture. Those lying on the mainland between these two areas have been grouped together as ‘Central’.

The ALP outpolled the LNP in all three areas, with their margin varying from 1% on Bribie Island to 20.4% in Caboolture.

  1. Talk of the town is Carryn Sullivan will announce her decision to retire first thing in the new year. Watch to see if this eventuates.

  2. I am very disappointed in this year’s people. I requested postal voting, as I have done for years from Carryn Sullivan’s office, but I received nothing. Now I am going to have to vote Saturday, but it is supposed to rain. I am in an electric wheelchair, quadriplegic. How am I supposed to vote if it’s raining as I cannot get my wheelchair wet, and a lot of places are not easily accessible to wheelchairs.
