History
The seat of Mount Ommaney has existed since the 1992 election, and it has generally gone with the party of government.
The ALP’s Peter Pyke won the seat in 1992. He lost in 1995 to the Liberal Party’s Bob Harper.
Harper lost in 1998 to Labor candidate Julie Attwood. She was re-elected in 2001, 2004, 2006 and 2009, and has served as a parliamentary secretary in the Labor government since 2006.

Tarnya Smith represented the electorate during the federal campaign of 2010. Good to see her running for a seat that needs a change from 13 years of labor.
On the subject of last year’s federal election Mr. Cooper, Smith did very well in the areas of Oxley covered by Mt. Ommaney, she’d win the seat comfortably (I think around the high 50s 2PP) on those results.
I would have to concur with both Mr Cooper, and, “MATT”, especially seeing that Tarnya Smith has had what appears to be a very visible presence in the electorate for probably the last 20 weeks or so, and, nothing from the incumbent.
Tarnya Smith will win the seat. The big question will be whether or not she has what it takes to ensure she is not a one-termer.
Julie Attwood to stand down:

She was an industrial relations expert in Queensland Health….hello are we missing something here? She’s part of the problem.
Individuals are not part of the problem. The Labor Government as a whole is the problem and their inability over 20 years to get with the times.
This site still needs changing, Julie Attwood is no longer Labor’s candidate – Ben Marczyk is Labor’s new candidate here.
My prediction: LNP gain
LNP gain.
This was a huge and crushing win here. Tarnya Smith may be shaping up to be the next Premier of Qld.
