Geography
South-eastern NSW. Bega covers all of Eurobodalla Shire and most of Bega Valley Shire. The seat covers the towns of Bega, Eden, Batemans Bay and Moruya.

History
Bega in its current form has existed since 1988. It has always been held by the Liberal Party. A seat of the same name also existed from 1894 to 1920.

The seat was won in 1988 by the Liberal Party’s Russell Smith. He held the seat until his retirement in 2003.

Andrew Constance has held Bega since 2003 for the Liberal Party.

Booths in Bega have been divided into four areas. Each local government area has been split between North and South. Eurobodalla North covers Batemans Bay. Eurobodalla South covers Narooma. Bega Valley North covers Bega, Bega Valley South covers Merimbula and Eden.

The Liberal Party’s margin varied from 56.8% in Bega Valley South to 51.1% in Bega Valley North.

  1. As broken down there is a very narrow range of results in this seat 51 to 57% for the libs.
    the Eden- Monaro figures for 2010 would make this very marginal.
    This in a normal election could change sides

  2. The final candidate here is independent Ivan McKay, a former broadcasting engineer with some community involvement around Merimbula, who unsuccessfully ran for Bega Valley council in 2008.
