I’ve had a request to open up a comments thread for the upcoming UK election.

I’m not planning to cover that election on this site, but if you’d like to discuss it, you can do so here.

  1. It is the same in nearby Gatehead Central and Wickham where Labour is loosing votes to its left flank Greens and a Socialist in that seat.

  2. More seats called!

Labour hold: Jarrow and Gateshead East, South Shields
    Labour gain from Conservative: Stroud
Liberal Democrats gain from Conservative: Harrogate and Knaresborough

  3. FIRST CONSERVATIVE SEAT CALLED!

Rayleigh and Wickford has been called for the Conservatives.

  4. Rayleigh and Wickford is an example of a Tory retain (37%) due to Reform, Labour (25% each) and Lib Dems all splitting the vote.

  5. Votante, although for an Australian example that would still end up being a Tory hold because Reform would be like One Nation or UAP, and Labor would generally preference the Liberals (Conservatives) over a right-wing candidate.

  6. Labour gain from Conservative: Darlington, Nuneaton, Telford
Liberal Democrats gain from Conservative: Eastleigh

  7. Labour hold Leeds West and Pudsey, Labour gain Swindon North from Conservatives.

Listening to Sky News UK’s coverage of the election and they appear to have results that The Guardian doesn’t, for example they’ve called Castle Point for the Conservatives.

  8. Labour gain Bridgend from Conservatives, Conservatives hold Broxbourne, Labour hold Norwich South.

  9. BREAKING: SKY NEWS HAS CALLED ASHFIELD FOR REFORM

Ashfield has been called as a Reform gain from the Torys. Lee Anderson, an ex-Conservative, has won the seat.

  10. Labour has gained Redcar and Whitehaven and Workington from the Conservatives, and has held Bootle.

  11. BREAKING: TALLYROOM USER “NETHER PORTAL” CALLS THE ELECTION FOR LABOUR

With Labour at 34 seats right now (the Torys are at three, the Lib Dems are at two and Reform is at one), I’m calling it for Labour. The swings against the Conservatives nationwide are massive.

  12. Agree NP, the results are looking very much like the massive wipeouts inflicted by Labor at the 2021 WA election and 2016 NT election where the ALP won a supermajority (>75% of the seats).

  13. Reform have held onto Ashfield a seat that the Conservatives won in 2019 with the MP defeating to reform. Ashfield was formerly a Labour stronghold what is interesting is can Reform win similar seats like this in the future.

  14. Guess who’s back, back again? NP’s back, tell a friend!

I’m back after my 18-minute break.

  15. Labour gain from Conservative: Barrow and Furness, Erewash, Hartlepool, Rushcliffe, Southport Tipton and Wednesbury, Wrexham
Labour gain from SNP: Kilmarnock and London
    Labour gain from Worker’s: Rochdale
Labour hold: Coventry East, Ealing Central and Acton, Leyton Wenstead, Liverpool Walton, Pontypridd, Swansea West
Liberal Democrats hold: Kingston and Surbiton
    Speaker hold: Chorley

  16. Labour hold: Ashton-under-Lyne, Goxer, Makerfield
Labour gain from SNP: West Dunbartonshire

  17. Labour hold: Ealing North, Luton Horth
    Labour gain from Conservative: Thurrock
Liberal Democrats gain from Conservative: Torbay

  18. BREAKING: LORD CHANCELLOR LOSES SEAT

Lord Chancellor Alex Chalk of the Conservative Party has lost his seat of Cheltenham to the Liberal Democrats.

  19. The Lib Dems have gained Carshalton and Wallington and Hazel Grove from the Torys, Conservatives hold on in Fylde.

  20. Fylde is currently the westernmost blue seat in the UK, and the only one in northwestern England.

  21. Torys hold Epping Forest, Labour holds Bermondsey and Old Southwark, Lib Dems hold Twickenham.

  22. BREAKING: KEIR STARMER RE-ELECTED

Labour leader, outgoing Opposition Leader and incoming Prime Minister Keir Starmer has been re-elected in his seat of Holborn and St Pancras.

  23. Labor gains Folkestone and Hythe and Worcester from Torys, Paisley and Renfrewshire South from SNP

  24. The SNP is being destroyed. Yellow seats in Scotland are turning red. Still no blue seats called for the Torys in Scotland or Wales though.
