Fadden by-election incoming

2

Federal Liberal MP Stuart Robert announced his retirement this morning from his northern Gold Coast electorate of Fadden. I think this probably will be a less interesting by-election than Aston, but we’ll see.

I’ve published my Fadden guide here for anyone who wants to get into it.

  1. Thank you Ben, definitely appreciate the effort covering this one. Also glad to see the QLD Local elections are on your radar in the navigation. Expecting Brisbane council will give a taste of what’s to come for the state election.

  2. Interested in the growth area voting patterns and pre-selection here. Perhaps an Independent (“teal” or not) may run, but I’m doubtful they’d perform well.

The LNP already has a large margin here. I wouldn’t be too shocked if they improve it or at least suffer only a slight swing against them, but if by some chance it drops to something like 4-5, maybe 6%, at that point they’d really have to go for removing Dutton. If he’s not resonating that close to home, where are his supporters at all?
